Photo Guidelines

Please read the Official Contest Rules.


What?

We’re seeking amazing photos from amateur photographers (making less than 20% of total income from photography) that share the best of Florida State Parks. Whether you prefer to take in the sun and sand with family and friends, or explore nature on your own, capture and share your favorite moments in these categories:


  1. Water Wonders – Share your experience at a freshwater spring, river, or beach in a Florida State Park.
  2. ...the Real Florida – Share the beauty, tranquility, love and balance of ...the Real Florida while exploring the great outdoors in Florida State Parks.
  3. Wildside – The wild places protected by Florida State Parks are home to abundant wildlife. It’s possible to see otters, deer, Florida scrub-jays, black bears and more! Capture memories of wildlife viewed in a Florida State Park.
  4. Park Fit – Whether balancing on a kayak, suspension bridge or bike, or hiking one of the amazing trails – there are so many ways to find balance in Florida State Parks. Our parks are your outdoor gym. How do you get fit in Florida State Parks?
  5. Sunscapes – Experience the beauty of a sunrise or sunset at a Florida State Park and share your experience.

Where?

Photos must be taken on the lands or within the facilities of Florida State Parks.


When?

Contest entries are accepted from Start of Contest August 28, 2019 at 12 a.m. ET to October 31, 2019 11:59 p.m. ET. Photographs must be taken between August 28, 2018 and October 31, 2019. Winners will be announced December 2019.


How to Submit?

  1. Submit photos at: www.FLStateParksPhotos.com/enter
  2. Only submit photos you have taken yourself.
  3. Submit photos in JPEG format. Photos that are 3 mb or larger with high resolution (300 DPI) are preferred. Photos that are too dark, blurry or less than 100KB will not be accepted.
  4. There is a limit of five (5) entries total per individual regardless as to the method of entry. Additional entries received from any individual beyond the fifth submission will be void.
  5. Please allow at least 2-3 business days for moderation before your photo appears on the website.

How are the photos judged?

Photos will be judged on the following criteria:

(i) originality, (ii) artistic composition, and (iii) whether the photograph showcases the best of Florida’s state parks experiences and recreational opportunities based on the category entered. See Prizes here.


Who's eligible to enter?

  1. Legal residents of the 50 United States and DC, who are at least 18 years of age and of the age of majority or older in the state of their residence at the time of entry.
  2. Photographs must be taken by you and you must have the rights to the photo.

Who's ineligible to enter?

  1. Employees, Volunteers, Officers, Directors, Agents, Representatives, Park Concessionaires, Park Citizen Support Organizations and DEP Contractors of the participating agencies and sponsors and their family members are not eligible to win prizes.
  2. Professional photographers. This is an amateur photo contest. Anyone who makes 20% or more in photography will be disqualified.

What Not to Do

  1. Do not alter or manipulate photos except for cropping, red eye removal and/or adjustment of contrast and brightness.
  2. No watermarks or logos.
  3. Don't break any laws or rules.
  4. Don't do anything unsafe.
  5. Don't photograph anything that is inappropriate, indecent or obscene.
  6. No dogs in areas that are not allowed. No dogs off leash.
